Thank you sekalian :he:
Ni bukan contest ni. Fahrur dah ade 14-35, 7-14 dan 35-100 f2, complete trinity dah tu. Lens 150 ni I pakai semata-mata tembak burung dengan bebudak saya :)
Sorry kalau pic pic semua macam teruk kena oversharpen ye. Sebab I oversight (maalum lah first post) tadi tak reduce size-nya.
Kalau ade sapa-sapa yang considering Oly prime dan nak tahu quality-nya, at least dengan photographer kolot pun, sila lah ke http://www.naturepixels.org/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=5 dimana I dah post pic pic ni dalam size 1024x768
Kala sapa sapa nak ngok fll size coba lang ajelah.

Hehe... i sell 50-200 because i don't shoot long... i sell 11-22 because 11 is not really that wide...
i find i need more of F2 aperture than the 11-13 & 101-200... i don't have 7-14 for 2 reasons.. 1) it's F4, 2) it cannot attach filter
14-100/2 + EC-14 will be my range for now...

I agree that the 40-150 ED is one damn good lens. At that price and size its unbeatable and my boys love to shoot it with the stabilised E510. In fact with the E420, even my 6 year old can get sharp shots, of course not at a good rate lah :he:
I bring it on my business trips together with the pancake and my E420. Love the kit!

Just to show that it is a practical kit for bird and animal photography, here are 3 pics of bulbuls taken handheld without flash in a forest reserve all on Deepavali morning.

I have used this kit for about slightly over 4 months and I am very pleased with it. With the 2ECs, you literally have 3 primes to shoot with and two of those are at f2 and f2.8. Based on the keeper rates, I would say this would be one of the most versatile truly portable kits out there.

Awesome birdie pics! Isn't the 50-200 a good lens for this purpose as well (other than its f3.5 at its long end)? just like to know ur opinion. Thanks!

Brandon, 50-200 is a very good lens and it'll kick Canon 100-400 and Nikkor 80-400 butt, especially wide open.
But my personal experience is that the Little Tuna plus EC-14 give me better details than the 50-200 (both SWD and non-SWD). The 50-200 was my main lens before I got the 150mm. I found the Canon 400 f5.6 and the Nikkor 300mm f4 primes to be sharper than the 50-200. With the 150mm, the tables are turned. 150mm with EC-20 practically same quality as Nikkor 300mm f4 clean.

Hi Varanus,
Sorry That I have To Tumpang Your Thread To Get A Message Across......To Those Of You Who Fred And Are Kicking Yourself For Being Unable To Effort The 150 F/2 ,nevermind Lah Brudder!....The 70-300 Is Also Quite Good What!....Of course It Doesn't Have The Bokeh and Glass F/2, But Birding isn't all Lenses. Believe Me The Most Important Thing is To Understand Your Subject Well, and Learn More About Their Habitats and Surroundings. Then you can Start Getting A little Closer and Well, even The 40-150 Is Good Enough...... In This Hard Times, Every Sen Counts!....Here's Some Pics Taken With My Former 70-300, With The E-510 and E-500. This Is Also A Little Birding Gift To varanus......Go Out And Take Pictures and be Glad Of What You Have......Thanks....Uncle James.
They Are Capable Of Sharp Pics Too....Only Lacking In A Little Bokeh!

Where do you shoot in Batu Pahat? What's the most accessible and popular forest reserve there? What are the trails like? Will call you if I go anywhere near BP!
I agree that the 70-300mm is one good lens! I have gotten some very decent shots from it with my E-510, In fact, I believe that paired with a E-520, its the lightest practical birding kit out there. Good reso and contrast. Only real downer in practical terms is the AF and this is because of the long focus range as a result of the extreme close focusing limit. If only Oly would put an AF limiter on this lens :( (oh, and on the 50-200 SWD too).

Yeah, Oly.. why?
Even the short 35-100mm F2.0 has a focus limiter.. 1.4m-inf, 1.4m-3m, 3m-inf... manyak syiok wor...

Hi Brandon,
Thanks and I use an Achiever TZ250 For All Of My Birding Photo's. It's Not Only Quick , Reliable, and very Cheap ( RM 180). It recycle in 0.8 Sec's, and Is Very Durable. Only Catch is that It Cannot Be Use In P and A Mode....Well, For Us Old Timers It's A Breeze To Use Manual Flash, and The Calculation Is Already In The Mind. For Fill In Portrait's I use The Tiny And Very Versatile 112A ( The Lowest Output of DIN 12 ). This Is Perfect For Fill In Portraits. And The Price Is A Cool RM 58 Only.......Picture Below Are For Your Reference.....Thanks...Uncle James.
