I like to PP my shots using Flickr's Picnik software. I just use the basic tools that I can use for free. The premium is too much, might as well do the PP in The GIMP.

My basic touch up is to use the Black & White conversion, Boost the image at about 20% to get deeper contrast, Soften the skin texture a bit, and add the Matter border effect. To finish off, I add the border and signature.
Picnik may be basic, but it can add simple but powerful effects to your images.
