Any pano shifu, I need your help.
My next project is inspired by the latest release from Olympus, a 360 pano camera, http://www.olympus.co.jp/jp/news/2008a/nr080630fclabj.cfm.
So, my question is, can I stitch at the long side of the pic for the pano? As I am thinking of using the portrait orientation. Also, what focal length is the most efficient for pano without the distortion and vigneting effect?
Adieu...

Can..I just did..I do not know about the focal length part but I just follow your advice which is shoot at at least 17.5mm to avoid distortion..

Have posted some panos stitched at the long side here (except #5):

Most are shot at 14mm if I remember correctly. Btw, confess first that I'm just a pano newbie here...

hmmm... maybe it's best to shoot pano with LiveView to get this assisting guide for framing...

and the horizon and vertical line can be accurately determined....
quite funky!

thing is, when shooting panos like TKP often does with people prancing around in the b/g, it's not practical to be too deliberate with your comps... more of a trigger-happy snap-snap-snap affair before anybody gets a chance to sneeze... the liveview would be more practical for landscapes, assuming the clouds don't move too fast :p

Get my pano setup. I loan it to you on a small price..I am still looking for a hot shoe level sprite. You can do a portrait panorama with the 11-22 and minimal distortion even at 11 mm.

TKP, if shooting outdoors no issue la..
if shooting indoors, the different light source will give different WB treatment.. that's all..

I did shoot indoor before, everytime during TT.....Now thinking of it, I think it's Blu's software that is useful because it has an Auto Exposure Adjustment while stitching the pictures
